Cas-L (Nedd9, neural precursor cell expressed, developmentally down-regulated gene 9) gene knockout mice. A 1.2 kb region including exon 2 was replaced with EGFP and a floxed neomycin resistant cassette. Homozygous mutant mice show reduced numbers of lymphocytes in secondary lymphoid organs and an almost complete loss of marginal zone B (MZB) cells in the spleen.

Developed by Sachiko Seo, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo in 2001. The targeting vector was transferred into TT2 ES cells derived from (C57BL/6 x CBA) F1. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6.

Cas-L (HEF1, NEDD9) はインテグリン下流のアダプター分子であり、その欠損はB細胞分化の異常をきたし、リンパ球のホーミング異常をきたす。またCas-Lは癌転移、進行に関与するという報告が多数なされている。Cas-Lは免疫系、癌進行、造血幹細胞研究において有用である。
